About
José Hidalgo is an international educator and school leader with more than 20 years of experience working across preschool, primary, and secondary education in Costa Rica and Ecuador. His career has included roles as a classroom teacher, International Baccalaureate coordinator, Academic Director, Head of Section, Assistant Principal, and Deputy Head of School. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Education and Language Teaching, master’s degrees in Diversity in Education and Support for Special Educational Needs and in Educational Leadership and School Management, and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Education. His experience across different countries, age groups, and educational contexts has shaped his belief that diversity is one of a school community’s greatest strengths.
As Head of School at Futuro Verde, José is committed to creating a welcoming and internationally minded community where every student and family feels known, valued, and respected. He believes that inclusion means more than providing access: it requires listening to different perspectives, removing barriers to participation, celebrating identity, and maintaining high expectations for every learner. His leadership is grounded in trust, collaboration, integrity, and shared responsibility, and he strives to remain visible and approachable within the community. José is proud to lead a school whose multilingual, multicultural, and environmentally conscious identity reflects his conviction that education can help students become compassionate, principled, and active contributors to a more inclusive world.
