About
Denisse was born in San José, Costa Rica, and lived all her childhood and adolescence in San Ramón de Alajuela. Since she was a child, she was passionate about individual sports, which served as her main motivation to enter the Human Movement Sciences career at the University of Costa Rica in 2007. As a Physical Education teacher, she has worked in various areas, covering a population of all ages, during the last ten years. She has extensive experience in swimming, a sport in which she has specialized. She worked as a volunteer in the Ngäbe-Buglé indigenous communities in Panama for a year and six months, the only time she did not directly practice her profession. She is passionate about open water swimming, the beach and animals (except for toads). She studied Social Work for 3 years at the Western branch of the University of Costa Rica, which she describes as one of the most enriching experiences, helping her to be a more empathetic and grateful person. She is a faithful believer that small changes have wonderful results, capable of changing the world.
