Parenting Classes

Parenting Classes

We want to share with you this new initiative and encourage you to attend and participate. Parent classes are an initiative that we started in order to support you as parents or caregivers by providing useful resources as you serve as the main guide for our students through life.

It is extremely important that we work as a team to support our students, clearly identifying our roles as educators and yours as parents or guardians. For every child, school starts at home and from the moment the child begins to be part of the family nucleus. As parents we often have doubts, feel overwhelmed and even confused when tackling this responsibility. Hence, creating a meaningful space where we can share, discuss and learn is of great importance. The topics of the parent classes were chosen based on concerns voiced by parents.

Even though classes started a few weeks ago, topics vary, so you are welcome to join us any time. Parents who attend all sessions get a certificate of attendance!

Please find below the topics to be discussed in the next sessions:

Athletic opportunities 2019

Athletic opportunities 2019

Greetings from the physical education, sports and recreation department! This school year will be filled with athletic and recreational opportunities, which I hope students will take advantage of and get involved in. We will start the year inviting students to be part of the different  teams that represent our school: Chess, Cross Country, Swimming, and Basketball (only for secondary students). These teams will have the opportunity to represent Futuro Verde in the Student Games (organized by the Ministry of Public Education). We will also offer recreational and athletic opportunities at our institution, such as a volleyball tournament, a chess tournament, a kickball tournament and our Fun Trail Run on the last day of school.

Futuro Verde is as committed as ever to our philosophy of developing programs and events where inclusion, recreation, passion for physical activity and fair play are our main objectives. Our mission is to plan and carry out sports and recreational activities that suit a wide range of tastes and preferences in order to provide all students with an opportunity to get involved in some or other physical activity. During the first weeks I will be forming the teams mentioned above. Stay tuned to notifications that I will be sending home to students who are elected to be team members. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.

Wishing you all a wonderful school year full of physical and mental health!

Help FV students to have cold and fresh water this summer!

Help FV students to have cold and fresh water this summer!

We feel so grateful that we have drinkable water in our wonderful school, we feel very privileged to have this treat right here in our campus facilities, especially during the months from January to May which are the driest and hottest months of the year.  With temperatures up to 32°.

With these temperatures and living in the Nicoya Península it is very important that all the students should keep hydrated!

Help all the kiddos, mid-schoolers and high schoolers get fresh and cold water this summer!

We would love to have water dispensers around the school to provide fresh and cold water to all our students! Help us getting 9 water dispensers for the school!

Where will these dispensers be?
  1. First and second grade area ($250)
  2. Third and fourth grade area ($250)
  3. Fifth and sixth grade area (250)
  4. Social Studies/Math/Art high school area ($250)
  5. Spanish, English and Science area ($250)

Registration 2019

Registration 2019

We come to the end of one more school year and we finished very successfully, some go others come but the enthusiasm is preserved.

We are very happy to confirm new families that join Futuro Verde during the next school year 2019. FV has grown a lot in the last 10 years since its foundation, in such a way that families who come to FV from various parts of Costa Rica and the world have decided to change their entire lives so that their children can receive a quality education.

With each passing year we experience important changes in our annual enrollment and you can see these changes in the classes. For the 2019 school year, we are very happy to confirm that we have groups that have reached their limit of 20 students per group.

All this was possible thanks to the enrollment process that has been improving year after year, and for this reason, we want to thank all the families that have collaborated with the flexibility towards these changes to have better results which have helped improve the school.

Scholarship Process 2019

Scholarship Process 2019

Becas 2019

Getting ready for the 2019 school year means getting ready for the scholarship process 2019 too.

The scholarships granted by Futuro Verde are subject to the money collected year after year for the scholarship fund. It is for this reason also that has been of utmost importance the improvement of processes to this day.

This year we had a successful scholarship process and we hope that the upcoming years will be just as successful. For this we will follow the same system we use for this school year:

1. Contact with the social worker in San José who will come to the area to work in the cases
2. Deliver to the families the package of documents necessary to apply for the scholarships, which must be submitted during the established period.
3. Families must pay the fee for the case study to the social worker
4. The social worker begins with the study of each case
5. Home visits are made if necessary
6. The social worker submits scholarship reports and recommendations
7. Families receive approved or unapproved reports and if necessary, they must sign the scholarship contract

It is important to remember that the scholarship process is an ANNUAL process as well as being a privilege granted by the educational center, for which it is the obligation of the families that have a scholarship to apply year after year to compete for the scholarship.

Stay tuned for more information about the 2019 scholarship process!

Knowing our Donors

Knowing our Donors

Did you know that Futuro Verde receives support from people around the world and in different ways? Some make their donation only once to support a specific project, others are interested in annual campaigns and others, like the character of this article, donate monthly to support all the campaigns of the school.

We love to know a little more about the people who support us and follow our work from other places, that is why we gave ourselves the goal of knowing a little more about where they come from and what some of our donors are doing.

On this occasion, we had the pleasure of meeting Holly Scheuer, native from Texas who fell in love with the area of the Nicoya Peninsula, which is how she learned about Futuro Verde.

Holly is also a teacher in a school in Texas and that is why Futuro Verde has caught her attention. In our interview, Holly mentioned that what she liked the most about Futuro Verde is that students are not only learning, but that they are learning in a creative way and most importantly they are exposed to a constant social responsibility, which is what we need in our classes nowadays.

For Holly, as a teacher and as a citizen of the world, the most important thing that she believes that schools should be teaching children and young people is about our Earth, our world and how to take care of it, she told us how she believes that Futuro Verde is doing a great job achieving this goal, it is for this and for her belief that all children must be learning in the classroom that Holly gives support to Futuro Verde from afar.

We are confident that we will continue to collaborate with Holly or “Ardilla” as her students in Texas call her in the future.

Thanks to Holly and all our collaborators for making possible the dream of education!
