This past April and May we had our first meetings with the director of the school, Angie Briceño.  The idea behind “Coffee with Angie” is to give the parents of Futuro Verde the opportunity to ask questions concerning the school and to create an atmosphere of open and transparent communication.  It is also an opportunity to bring together parents and staff to get to know each other while bringing positive ideas to solving challenges at the school. 

At these first few meetings we addressed several topics that have been recurring themes on the PTO WhatsApp chat (click here to join).  We discussed FV lice protocol, uniform expectations, and drop off and pick up safety concerns.  We also created a phone tree (a system of communication with families using cell phones) in case of a school emergency.  Lastly, we worked on supporting staff in planning the Fun Run school event for Wednesday, July 14th. 

It is our hope to continue these monthly meetings into the next school year so that the Parent/ Teacher Organization can bring families together and coordinate more activities that support our students and staff at Futuro Verde to build a stronger sense of community.

What a wonderful first PTO Event!

The Christmas Carnival was a joyful gathering of students, staff and parents. Everyone had an amazing time playing carnival games, running the obstacle course, playing volleyball and enjoying special treats at the Soda. Students were able to kick off the holiday break with a strong sense of community and celebration.

Thanks to the generosity of several families that donated goodies like empanadas, cookies and fruit pinchos, the PTO was also able to raise over 100,000c that will go toward future events and teacher appreciation!

It was so wonderful to be a part of bringing students, parents, and staff together and just have fun. It is events like these that provide us a sense of community and teamwork. Parent involvement does so much to improve everyone’s experience and interaction with the school. In the coming months we are planning more activities and would love to have your support.

¡Qué maravilloso primer evento del PTO! 

El Carnaval de Navidad fue una alegre reunión de estudiantes, personal y padres.  Todo el mundo se lo pasó muy bien jugando a juegos de carnaval, corriendo la carrera de obstáculos, jugando al voleibol y disfrutando de golosinas especiales en el Soda.  Los estudiantes pudieron comenzar las vacaciones con un fuerte sentido de comunidad y celebración.  

Gracias a la generosidad de varias familias que donaron golosinas como empanadas, galletas y pinchos de fruta, el PTO también pudo recaudar más de 100.000c que se destinarán a futuros eventos y a la apreciación de los maestros.  

Fue tan maravilloso ser parte de reunir a los estudiantes, padres y personal y simplemente divertirse.  Son eventos como estos los que nos proporcionan un sentido de comunidad y de trabajo en equipo.   La participación de los padres hace mucho para mejorar la experiencia de todos y la interacción con la escuela.  En los próximos meses estamos planeando más actividades y nos encantaría contar con su apoyo.

Who are we? 

We are a group of dedicated parents and teachers (or staff) who share the goal of enriching the educational experience at our school. Any Futuro Verde parent or staff are welcome to participate.

What do we do? 

We organize and coordinate special events for students and staff, support teachers and administration by volunteering in classrooms or doing service projects, provide monthly breakfasts for the FV staff, organize fundraisers…all through parent power and donations!  Parent involvement helps parents gain more confidence in their school, helps students be more positive in their attitude toward the school, and lifts teacher and staff morale.

How can you help? 

You are welcome to join the WhatsApp group for instant notification of PTO planned events (Please contact +1 8584447887).  Additionally, the PTO will send communications through the school in which you can click on a link and sign up to be involved with specific events.

The Leadership Committee is open to anyone wanting to help develop the PTO’s calendar and activities.

Starting in January we will be developing additional activities to help parents engage with each other.
