Greetings from the Physical Education, Sports and Recreation Department! I hope you have enjoyed your vacation and that both students and the entire community are ready to start the 2018 school year. This year, we will continue to strengthen our department with institutional activities, as well as participation in different sporting events at the circuital, regional and national levels. Among the sports that we will be promoting, cross country, running and jumping events, swimming, kickball and volleyball stand out. At the beginning of each trimester, you will find out how to try out for the teams and learn about the different school-wide events and tournaments.
As in previous years, we will continue our activities based on the philosophy of developing programs and events where inclusion, recreation, passion for physical activity and fair play are our main objectives. Our mission in Futuro Verde is to plan and carry out sports and recreational activities that cover a wide range of tastes and preferences. In this way, all students will enjoy the opportunity to get involved in some type of physical activity.
We´re expecting you on February 1st with our arms and doors wide open!

El año 2017 Futuro Verde ha dado muchas cosas positivas de qué hablar en el ámbito de los deportes a nivel, local, regional, interregional y a nivel nacional. Hemos tenido un medio año muy productivo y exitoso. En deportes de conjunto como baloncesto y en deportes individuales como la natación, el ajedrez, el tenis de mesa y el campo traviesa, el nombre de nuestra institución ha sido muy bien representado por nuestros atletas. Entre los logros más importantes podemos destacar que en campo traviesa, dos de nuestros estudiantes lograron llegar hasta la etapa nacional donde uno de ellos tuvo una muy destacada participación. Tanto en ajedrez como en baloncesto y tenis de mesa nuestros atletas avanzaron hasta la etapa interregional tan solo a un pequeño escalón de la etapa nacional. En la modalidad de natación 14 nadadores llegaron a la etapa nacional y en ella todos los de la etapa escolar lograron entrar en el podio de medallas logrando obtener bronce en todos los eventos donde participaron. En la etapa nacional colegial una de nuestras atletas logró el podio obteniendo medalla de bronce.
La temporada competitiva del Ministerio de Educación Pública ha terminado. Pero esto no significa que las oportunidades para nuestros estudiantes de involucrarse en algún deporte han llegado a su fin. Durante el resto del año estamos planeando organizar diferentes eventos estudiantiles y familiares. Entre ellos destacan: un torneo de voleibol, uno de ajedrez y una carrera de campo traviesa. De igual manera estaremos ofreciendo una academia de baloncesto para todas las edades, un club de natación y formaremos un equipo de futbol escolar (niños del 2006 y 2007) para participar en el Torneo Estudiantil Scotia Bank FEDEFUTBOL, el cual se estará realizando entre los meses de agosto, septiembre y noviembre.
Como pueden ver, nos espera un último tercio del año lleno de oportunidades para sus estudiantes. Espero seguir contando con su apoyo y espero también logren involucrarse.

This year Futuro Verde has given many positive things to talk about in the field of sports at local, regional, interregional and national levels. We have had a very productive and successful six months. Both in team sports such as basketball and in individual sports such as swimming, chess, table tennis and cross country, the name of our institution was well represented by our athletes. Among our most important achievements, we can highlight that in cross country two of our students reached the national level, where one of them had an outstanding participation. In chess, basketball and table tennis our athletes advanced to the interregional level, only a small step away from nationals. In swimming, 13 of our swimmers classified to the national competition with all of our students in category A and B obtaining at least one bronze medal. At the secondary national level, one of our two athletes achieved the podium obtaining a bronze medal.
The competitive sport’s season of the Ministry of Public Education is over. However, this does not mean that opportunities for our students to get involved in sports have come to an end. For the rest of the year, we are planning different student and family events, including a volleyball tournament, a chess tournament, and a cross country run. There will also be opportunities to participate in a basketball academy for all ages and a swimming club.
As you can see, we expect a third trimester full of opportunities for all students. I hope to continue counting on your support and to see family members getting involved.

Este inicio de año hemos estado muy ocupados entrenando y participando en una gran variedad de deportes. El nombre de Futuro Verde ha sido muy bien representado en todos los deportes donde nuestros atletas han competido. Algunos de los logros de años anteriores se han venido repitiendo. Este año Futuro Verde logró clasificar a dos estudiantes a la etapa nacional en campo traviesa donde se tuvo una participación muy destacada por parte de uno de ellos. En el ámbito de la natación también estamos teniendo mucho éxito logrando clasificar a 14 atletas a la etapa nacional. En estos dos deportes hemos logrado mantener nuestro nivel competitivo y demostrar que a pesar de muchas adversidades, con trabajo y disciplina se pueden lograr cosas importantes. Sin embargo estos no han sido todos los logros hasta ahora. Por primera vez en la historia de Futuro Verde y, gracias a la ayuda del profesor Oscar Leal Méndez, hemos formado un equipo de ajedrez que ha representado orgullosa y destacadamente a nuestra institución en eventos regionales e interregionales. De igual manera este año hemos logrado formar cuatro equipos de baloncesto los cuales aún están en periodo de entrenamiento y pronto estarán listos para competir.
Pero apenas vamos a la mitad del año. En los próximos meses estaremos organizando diferentes eventos deportivos que ofrecerán un gran número de oportunidades de recreación y de actividad física. Entre ellos destacan un torneo comunitario de ajedrez, una carrera de campo traviesa, y diferentes clubes que se ofrecerán después de clases. Manténgase listos e informados y no dejen pasar ninguna oportunidad.
